I have often tried to write a diary when travelling but it doesn't usually make it past the first day. I just remembered why, it's because the first few days are tiring.
I have been worried about the logistics of this trip. The boat sails at 4:00 pm on Tuesday and can't wait for missing passengers or lost luggage. So I planned plenty of time to get to Manchester airport yesterday but only had 1 1/2 hours for the change over in Paris. First obstacle, got to Barrow train station to find the train was cancelled and a bus would be laid on. OK but the bus was not likely to get to Lancaster in time to catch the train to Preston where I had 10 mins to get another replacement bus service to the airport, oh and despite the warmest winter in ages we are expecting snow today. Plan B then, drive straight to Preston. A big thank you to Tina for coming with me to drive the car back.
Arrived at Manchester on time! It's now snowing and they are having to de-ice the planes before take off. We still manage to push back from the gate in good time, but then we stop and sit still for a while. The Air France pilot speaks over the intercom, I don't speak French but I defiantly headed the word problem! He then speaks in English, there is a problem with one of the computers but it will be fixed in a minute. I guess that means he is rebooting it. Oh I don't want us to go back to the gate but I do want us to have all the computers that keep us in the air working OK.
I headed after we left planes started getting delayed by 36 minutes, but we managed to arrive in Paris in good time and board the plane to Buenos Aires for the 13 hour flight. It's nice to go on holiday for a rest.
