30 Sept 2011
The day has come to head off on my trip to Bhutan. England is currently experiencing an Indian Summer with record temperatures for this time of year, ironic since my first flight is to Delhi.
The day started with a train trip from a small unmanned train station, Roose, to Lancaster and then a longer one down to Euston in London. I then had to take the tube across London to Heathrow airport. I was not looking forward to this part of the journey with such warm temperatures, but it was not to bad and the tube was not overcrowded.
I'm currently in the departure lounge waiting for the information board to indicate which gate to board from. It is then an 8 1/2 hr flight to Delhi, a 3 hr stop over and then a flight to Kathmandu. Last time I flew to Nepal (2007) I was bumped up to business class, no such luck this time. After a night in Kathmandu it will be another flight, this time to Paro, and then I'll actually be in Bhutan. Palo from all accounts is a fun place to land!

Not a long time off
Well that was a quick two months (see previous blog entry), tomorrow I start my travels to the Himalayan Kingdom of Bhutan. As they say "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step", the single step in this case will be the train from Roose to Lancaster.
