Still a long time off

It's a little early to be getting excited about my upcoming trip to Bhutan, after all it's still a little over two months away. But boy am I getting excited!

Maybe I can be excused, after all I did book this trip nine months ago!

The anticipation as been building recently due in part to a book that I read. The book was "Married to Bhutan" by Linda Leaming, the tag line to the book is "How one women got lost, said "I do," and found bliss". I recommend the book whether you are planning a trip to Bhutan or not. More about the book and Linda can be found at her Blog

To help feed the excitement I've ticked off a number of jobs on my pre-holiday todo list.

First on the list, book an appointment with the health travel clinic. I recently filled in paper work at my doctors surgery stating my travel plans, I did this quite happily believing that my vaccinations were up to date. Oh no, the practice nurse phoned back this week wanting me to make an appointment to see her. Looks like I should have had a booster for Typhoid last October.

Next job on the list, train tickets to Heathrow. How do they work out the price for train tickets in the UK? When I checked the price last week it was about £97 return from Cumbria to Heathrow. When I checked today the web site offered me a first class ticket one way for £63.50, should have been over £200 and a single ticket on the day of my return for £26. So I save £7 on the original quote and get to travel first class one way.

I can now feed the excitement and make the holiday seem that little bit nearer by collecting my train tickets from the station. How sad.
