I'm Melting

17th Jan 2016 Part 2
I have the rest of the day in Buenos Aires for a bit of sight seeing before the tiredness kicks in, plus I need an early night as I'm getting picked up tomorrow at 6:20am for the airport.
I do have a problem walking around Buenos Aires, it's 33C and I'm geared up for the Antarctic. There is a low weight limit for luggage on tomorrows flight so I was not able to bring summer clothes for the layover here.
I last visited Argentina and Buenos Aries over the new year of 2009-2010. I was with a group then and our guide took us to the Recoleta Cemetery, which seemed a strange place to visit. Anyway it was closed at the time so we did not manage to get in. My hotel is in the Recoleta area, so I thought I would take a look today to see why a cemetery is a tourist must see.
It's not what I expected, it's not tomb stones but rows upon rows of mausoleums. In fact there are 6,400 of them. It's like a town, only instead of houses there are rows of mausoleums making up roads and alley ways. It is really a fascinating place to visit. It's an important place for Argentina's as it holds many of the last resting place of the people that shaped Argentina. Of course the most famous resident is Eva Peron (Evita).
On the way from the airport this morning, Daniel was telling me about the amount of meat they eat in Argentina, they are famous for their steaks. He told me you can get a small one of about 1kg, they call it a baby steak! I did manage to find a restaurant that served me a very nice tasting "small" steak. The last time I was here I drank mate, a South American tea like drink. Our guide told me it was OK for me to have sugar in it, I latter read that only women and gringos have it with sugar. I wonder if the "small" steak was the same?
For the rest of the afternoon I walked around a few other sights I missed last time.
